David G. Adams, Director

David Adams joined ScottMadden in 2007. His background includes energy, utilities, and consumer packaged goods.  He has consulted extensively with clients across North America and has also worked as a line manager in the utility industry.  Mr. Adams has led numerous consulting engagements, provided program management for several multi-year technology implementations, advised clients on business process and IT outsourcing transactions, and managed the meter-to-cash functions for a retail electric provider in Texas’ competitive electric market.  Mr. Adams has extensive experience leading outsourcing engagements and has worked closely with several of the largest India-based offshore service providers.  Prior to joining ScottMadden, Mr. Adams served as a vice president for Alliance Data and as a consultant with Xansa and Navigant Consulting, specializing in technology implementation and business change management. He spent the early part of his career with FirstEnergy.  Mr. Adams earned a B.B.A. in marketing from Eastern Michigan University and an M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University.

Recent Assignments

 
  • Developed and negotiated the commercial framework, including master services agreement and statements of work, for a business process and application maintenance offshore engagement
  • Developed and negotiated service-level agreements for a 60 FTE back office BPO initiative with the service provider
  • Managed the evaluation and transition of a utility's business process and application maintenance functions from the service provider's offshore delivery center in India
  • Led the build-out of a new 100-seat call center and facilitated the "re-badging" of 50+ service agents from client to service provider to support a 10-year, $180M outsourcing contract
  • Directed production operations for an outsourced client, including managing a 90-member call center operations team, a 50-member application support team, and an $8.5M annual expense budget
  • Served as program manager for a CIS implementation and data conversion initiative for a utility client
  • Led a multi-year business intelligence and management reporting initiative for a global beverage company
  • Managed the development of a management reporting system to monitor a utility client's compliance against competitive market rules
  • Program managed the entire lifecycle of a multi-year technology implementation and business change initiative to support a client's entry into Texas' deregulated electric market
  • Acted as interim director of sales during the start-up phase of an unregulated business venture for a Northeast utility entering the distributed generation market
