Ian Falk, Managing Associate
Ian Falk joined ScottMadden in 2003. His consulting experience in the pharmaceutical and utility industries spans a number of areas, including HR, strategy development, performance management, business planning, and organization design. Prior to joining ScottMadden, he worked in process and quality management for the bacterial vaccine development group at Wyeth, in brand management at Proctor & Gamble, and as a supervisor in the clinical development group of aaiPharma. Mr. Falk earned an M.B.A. from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.A. in biology from Washington and Lee University.
Recent Assignments
- Led an effort to implement a new operating model at a large investor-owned utility, which created a more rigorous business planning model using benchmarked targets and well-defined multi-year goals
- Assisted in developing a new comprehensive corporate strategy for the CEO and board of directors of a large public utility
- Evaluated a utility's current performance management process and helped internal teams develop more financially focused and vertically aligned metrics and targets
- Performed an in-depth benchmarking analysis of all aspects of a utility's financial and operational performance against a panel of regional competitors
- Helped a investor-owned utility analyze and propose an optimized central generation organization, managing both fossil and nuclear assets
- Worked with a client to optimize staffing levels and create a standard organization for all sites across a fleet of newly acquired nuclear facilities
- Directed a project to extract and organize archived payroll data from legacy systems for a savings plan harmonization project at a global pharmaceutical company
- Managed the process of moving outsourced HR functions to an internal group for a global pharmaceutical company in Puerto Rico
- Led a technology roll-out project to provide on-line access for all manufacturing colleagues at a global pharmaceutical company in Puerto Rico. The effort enabled the company to streamline its HR information delivery channels, providing colleagues at six separate sites equal access to HR information
- Assisted with managing an HR merger integration project for a global pharmaceutical manufacturing division in Puerto Rico
- Led a team chartered to combine and improve all short- and long-term disability policies and procedures in the Puerto Rican division of a global pharmaceutical company following a merger
- Optimized the current sales force alignment for a mature pharmaceutical brand to maximize revenue growth potential. Analyzed targeting principles and identified a group of previously undervalued physicians that provided potential incremental revenue in excess of $40 million
