Cristin Lyons, Partner
Cristin Lyons is a partner with ScottMadden, specializing in transmission operations, project management, merger and acquisition integration, and process development and improvement. Prior to joining the firm in 1999, Ms. Lyons was employed by Tricon Restaurants International, specializing in supply-chain management for Latin America. She also has held positions with Kuwait Food Company and Alghanim Industries in Kuwait. A graduate of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, Ms. Lyons earned a B.A. in political science and Spanish from Gettysburg College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Lyons is fluent in Spanish.
Recent Assignments
- Managed the integration of the operations functions of two transmission companies
- Served as the project manager to build a transmission operations center. The project included installing a new transmission operation system, building a new facility, upgrading and modifying field RTUs, and implementing the telecommunications network to provide SCADA data to the new system. Developed a strategy to cut over operational control of transmission facilities to a new control center as part of this project.
- Managed the request for proposal (RFP) process and contract negotiation to purchase an energy management system (EMS)
- Managed the transition of transmission assets to an independent transmission company formed when the client purchased the assets from an integrated utility. Created business processes and organizational design for the new entity. Performed an operational assessment of transmission system operations in light of integration into an RTO
- Performed the quantitative analysis supporting a transmission benchmarking effort, which required benchmarking the capital and operations and maintenance performance of approximately twenty transmission organizations
- Managed the development of a human resources service center in Singapore. This project included process reengineering, technology integration, and the development of a comprehensive communications/marketing strategy
- Conducted the quantitative analysis for a customer loyalty survey for an electric utility in Nova Scotia. These analyses supported strategic recommendations to combat new competition in the market, increase market share, and identify new product development opportunities
- Created a database tool to support the merger of two integrated electric utilities. This tool created a baseline for tracking synergies and staff through the integration, as well as map individuals and budgets across organizations prior to integrating the HR information systems
- In a utility merger, documented the transactions under the new holding company structure that would require SEC approval. Identified areas where cross-legal entity reporting could present legal, administrative, or management challenges during the months prior to closing
