Trey Robinson, Director
T. L. "Trey" Robinson, III is a business strategist and financial leader with 10 years experience creating and implementing strategies, leading major corporate initiatives, and improving profitability for client companies. He has interacted with corporate directors and officers of domestic and global companies covering a broad range of retail, wholesale, business services, software, and manufacturing industries. Mr. Robinson holds an M.B.A. from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University and a B.S. in chemical engineering with a minor in economics from North Carolina State University. Prior to joining ScottMadden, he was employed as a senior manager at BearingPoint.
Recent Assignments
- Directed a large-scale financial transformation at a $3 billion business services company. Maintained direct oversight of the design, development, and implementation of all transformation initiatives. Major efforts included sweeping process enhancements in all finance functions and the creation and deployment of six custom software applications
- Directed the program management office for a store operations improvement initiative at a $4 billion electronics retailer. Established a "balanced scorecard" system for management reporting to monitor and track estimated program benefits totaling $100 million in operating profit improvement across 5,000 company-owned stores
- Directed a financial initiative supporting a "store of the future" strategy for a $10 billion wireless provider. The proposed design was supported by multi-year operating and capital budgets, monthly forecasts, resource requirements, a detailed implementation plan, and an ROI analysis
- Led a performance improvement program initiative for one of the largest retailers in the United States. The assessment phase of the initiative included gaining a common understanding of current merchandising processes; creating design principles for future-state process, technology, and organization; identifying improvement opportunities; and constructing a multi-phase roadmap
- Managed the wholesale redesign of merchandising, planning, allocation, and replenishment organizations for a large mass merchandiser. By aligning the positions based on customer and product attributes, efficiencies were gained creating equivalent sales growth with fewer people
- Designed financial processes for a venture capital-backed start-up company, focusing on budgeting/planning and performance management. The financial processes were integrated with the client ERP Financials system and linked to the General Ledger and Accounts Receivable modules
- Managed the creation of a product profitability model for a $2.6 billion consumer goods manufacturer. Using the results, potential costs savings and revenue enhancements were identified, including SKU/customer rationalization, new product evaluations, and strategic pricing
