Robert F. Stevens, Managing Associate
Since joining ScottMadden in 2005, Bob Stevens has worked on planning and operational improvement engagements within functional areas that include business planning, HR, IT, finance, facilities, supply chain management, and security. Before joining ScottMadden, Mr. Stevens was an independent consultant. Prior to that, he developed business cases and negotiated enterprise and outsourcing agreements for leading technology companies. Earlier in his career, Mr. Stevens worked for United Technologies as a project manager and application developer, in support of finance, procurement, and manufacturing. Mr. Stevens earned an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.S. in management information systems with a minor in accounting from Southern New Hampshire University.
Recent Assignments
- Collaborated with a regional electric transmission operator to improve the process for connecting new power plants to the transmission grid to account for the increasing number of wind generation development projects. Key responsibilities included: planning and strategizing, leading teams in identifying current state issues and designing new process, facilitating decision-making with 60 diverse stakeholders in large group forums, authoring whitepaper on proposed solutions, and editing business practice manuals and tariff language for filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
- Analyzed customer relationship management processes and telecommunications infrastructure for a leading global pharmaceutical company. Developed recommendations and implementation plans to enhance customer service in call centers and sales offices while reducing overall costs
- Created a series of recommendations to improve supply chain management effectiveness. Compared procurement and materials management processes to leading practices, evaluated metrics against industry benchmarks, and designed and administered customer satisfaction surveys
- Examined and documented processes for onboarding temporary and outsourced workers. Designed new business processes for enabling vendor self-service and automating workflow between IT security, HR, and global sourcing. Created systems requirements for offshore application development
- Analyzed opportunities for reducing cost and improving operating performance for a large public utility. Synthesized cost data and craft labor history, and compiled 120-day plan to begin achieving savings of $113 million
- Evaluated business case for outsourcing a business function. Analysis included financial, personnel, and regulatory impacts. Client achieved desired benefits at lower cost with reduced risk
- Assessed financial organization, processes, and systems for a government contractor. Formulated a series of strategic reform initiatives to improve accountabilities, procedures, and financial reporting
- Assisted with planning the divestiture of plant assets for a large utility. Facilitated technology selection for supporting RFP and sales processes
- Led process to identify and prioritize cross-functional business requirements for a customer relationship management system in support of a credit reporting agency. Scope included stakeholders from 18 corporate groups, as well as globally outsourced call centers
- Developed an investment model for a commercial and residential lighting business unit, to determine capital requirements for generating specified levels of per share contributions by market segment
- Conceived and launched real estate vertical market for an interactive marketing agency. Program included industry study, strategic planning, ROI analysis and sales/marketing execution
