Case Study: IT Shared Services Center Site Selection
ScottMadden performed a site selection study for a global logistics company interested in establishing a central IT shared services center and three satellite locations.
- The client's parent company was interested in establishing a global IT shared services center for its newly formed global enterprise
- The client was charged with evaluating suitable locations for the IT shared services center, but did not have the information readily on hand to conduct the study
- ScottMadden was retained to collect and analyze economic and quality-of-living data for viable countries and to provide a recommendation for one central IT shared services center and three satellite offices in separate global regions

- Identified potential countries
- Developed screening criteria based on client input regarding important/critical characteristics
- Developed a recommendation matrix for further city research and grouped the cities into feasibility categories
- Developed evaluation criteria that sharpened the focus of the screening criteria initially identified
- Ranked cities based on the evaluation criteria and analyzed evaluation scores
- Developed a recommendation for a central office location based on evaluation criteria rankings
- Analyzed scores for the three regions outside of the central office recommendation region and developed recommendations for the three satellite office locations
