Case Study: Integration of Transmission System Operations

ScottMadden managed the integration of two energy transmission system operations organizations.

• The client needed assistance integrating the energy transmission system operations functions of two companies it owned
• The client committed to full operational control of the new assets within six months of purchase
• A single energy management system (EMS) was to be used to manage the combined transmission assets
• Significant work in the field needed to be completed to enable operational control of the assets

• Worked with the client to develop future-state goals to be accomplished by closing and at final operational integration
• Developed a work plan to meet the key dates committed by management
• Tracked the work plan on a weekly basis.  Emphasized the EMS integration and coordination with the field work
• Participated in biweekly management meetings on the status of the corporate integration

• The integrated company took operational control of the acquired assets on schedule
• All systems and field work required for operation was completed
