Pre-Conference Workshop C
Making the Decision to Offshore/Outsource Finance and Accounting Shared Services
2:30 PM - 5:30 PM, July 18, 2005

Finance and accounting organizations have been aggressive in adopting the shared services model, delivering value for their parent organizations. At some point, however, the incremental savings available after centralizing, standardizing, and optimizing F&A processes become more elusive. It is at this point that many F&A organizations begin to consider seriously the benefits of moving operations to lower-cost locations outside of their home countries, or even outsourcing their F&A processes. In this interactive workshop, you will learn the important questions to consider in making the decision to offshore or outsource your F&A shared services. Advantages and disadvantages of both strategies will be explored, as will risks.

Key topics to be covered are:

  • Strategic Considerations: Are offshoring and outsourcing really options
  • The Importance of Understanding your Baseline: Knowing your current processes, costs, performance, and potential
  • Key Variables in the business case for offshoring or outsourcing
  • The Business Case: Sources of information, making key assumptions, and sensitivity analysis
  • Risk Assessment: Identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies
  • Hedging Strategies: Exit points and related strategies
