How can Europe’s experience benefit U.S. utilities?
The European power sector has a common goal and vision of a clean energy future, but vision alone isn’t enough to ensure a successful transition. Through the exploration of new value streams, Europe has charted a course towards investing in innovative technologies, programs and approaches, with a willingness to take some risk and the knowledge that there will be failures as well as successes.
During this one-hour session, audience members will learn real world examples of how European utilities are approaching the energy transition and the accompanying changes and challenges. Bram Reinders will share the efforts being made by Alliander, a European utility leading the transition in the Netherlands, and Caroline Choi of Southern California Edison will offer her insights into how Europe’s example can benefit U.S. utilities.
Participants will hear lessons including:
Speakers:
Caroline Choi, Senior Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, Southern California Edison, Board Chair
Bram Reinders, Founder & Chairman, Global Smart City and Community Coalition (GSC3), Alliander
Facilitators:
Tanuj Deora, Executive Vice President & Chief Content Officer, SEPA
John Pang, Partner, ScottMadden, Inc.
