This summer of 2008 finds firms still suffering from escalating costs, infrastructure needs, and regulatory uncertainty. A slowdown in economic growth has staved off some power supply adequacy issues, but increasing natural gas prices continue to drive power prices upward, with little relief in sight. Despite – or because of – these challenges, more firms are beginning to perceive sustainability as an enduring trend and are pursuing more comprehensive and systematic actions going beyond “mere” sustainability reporting.
